Shannon Kennedy is a former Level 10 gymnast who transitioned to competitive dance in high school and became a member of the UNC Dance Team at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, competing at UDA Nationals multiple times.

She has been teaching acrobatics for the competition team at Rhythm Dance Studio in Matthews, NC, since 2021. Weekly classes include ages 7-18, in both group and private settings.

The combination of gymnastics and dance experience gives her a deep foundation in acrobatics, along with a strong understanding of how it applies to the current competitive dance environment.

Shannon emphasizes physical strength and readiness, correct form, and safe progressions. She believes that a solid acrobatic foundation and dancer longevity matter more than rushed skill acquisition.

Some of her favorite topics to speak on: managing dancer (and parent) expectations, building trust with students, and helping dancers overcome fear without shame.
