She began her dance training with Hawaiʻi Ballet Theatre before moving to New York City, where she earned a B.A. in Dance from The New School and performed with Kalamandir Dance Company under the direction of Brinda Guha.
Following graduation, the pandemic brought Julia back to Hawaiʻi, where she became a certified yoga teacher and continued developing her choreographic voice through teaching and creating work locally. She then spent two years abroad teaching English, training, and immersing herself in a new artistic community, during which she performed works by artists including Jemma Lee and Hyerica.
Since returning to New York City, Julia has been featured in Kate Mina Lin’s debut music video WILD and was selected as a choreographer for Dance Lab NYC’s Broadway Choreography Intensive (2025). She currently dances with Kenichi Kasamatsu (akompany) and David Carthena Lee (Resonance), while continuing to develop her own choreographic projects.
