Brian Cheung is a dynamic New York city based performer. Originally from Hong Kong, he holds his BFA in Musical Theater from the College-Conservatory of Music at the University of Cincinnati. Brian has worked regionally at MT Wichita in Waitress, Crazy For You, Newsies, Something Rotten, and A Grand Night for Singing, and will be making his MUNY Debut in Meet Me in St. Louis this summer. Since being in New York he has been a part of the Tier 3 workshops for Zootopia and Thoroughly Modern Millie, working with Kyle Hanagami and Shannon Lewis respectively. As a choreographer, he believes movement/dance stems from a place of acting. He is currently pioneering different ways to integrate acting and storytelling in street styles. Focusing on concepts like the conscious vs subconscious, he is dissecting how musicality and textures can act as blueprints for acting beats in dance.

This class is energetic and dynamic, designed to help dancers get a better grasp of Hip Hop. Class will start off with a warm up that leads into foundational hip hop grooves and isolations. Challenging Hip Hop choreography will then be taught to practice retention, strength and body control. Lastly, this class is not product oriented, it is a safe space where dancers can dip their toes in something unfamiliar and get better. I’m here to learn just as you all are so let’s all have fun, mess around, and grow together!
