Tomislav Nevistic is an internationally touring interdisciplinary artist, who is continuing the legacy of American Modern dance through Performance, Choreography & Education.
Nevistic started his dance education at The School of Contemporary Dance of Ana Maletic in Croatia where he studied Laban technique. In New York, he received a two-year certificate from The Ailey School with an emphasis on the Graham technique.

Nevistic started his dance education at The School of Contemporary Dance of Ana Maletic in Croatia where he studied Laban technique. In New York, he received a two-year certificate from The Ailey School with an emphasis on the Graham technique.
As a member of Graham II, Tomislav studied and performed iconic roles in Martha Graham’s Secular Games, Acts of Light, Diversion of Angels, Owl and the Pussycat, Night Chant, Appalachian Spring, and many more. He received his Teacher's Certification in the Graham Technique from the Martha Graham School of Contemporary Dance.
Currently, Tomislav is one of the spring artists in residence for The Baryshnikov Arts Center where he choreographed a new piece “The Story”. He was chosen and commissioned by Mare Nostrum Elements to create and perform in a piece “Body Disappears” for ECS. Other commissions and performances include his work for Ziel Dance Theater: “And There It Was”, “Freedom≠Britney”, dance films “Me, Myself and Your Eyes”, and “No More Perchance to Dream”. Nevistic has performed his works at venues such as The Baryshnikov Arts Center, The Ailey Theater, LaGuardia Performing Arts Center, New York Live Arts, Dance Olympiad IDO in Moscow, Gavella Theater in Zagreb, and various venues in the Bahamas and Italy.
Tomislav is a company dancer for the modern dance company Alison Cook Beatty Dance where he had the opportunity to perform in various festivals such as The Hudson Valley Festival, Dumbo Festival, Artist in Motion, Fairfield County Festival, and many more theaters around the US.
Nevistic is the recipient of the Oscar of Knowledge in Dance from the Agency for Education under the auspices of the President of the Republic of Croatia and the Croatian Parliament, a Mia Corak Slavenska award, and a silver medal at the IDO European Show Dance Championship in St. Petersburg and Dance Olympiad in Moscow.

The Graham technique centers on "contraction and release," emphasizing core-driven movement intertwined with breath. It utilizes opposition in various body parts to create spirals for dramatic effect. Beginning with foundational floorwork focusing on breath and core control with spiraling movements, the class progresses to standing exercises emphasizing spinal alignment and articulation. Combinations in the center and across the floor integrate core elements for a cohesive dance experience. Designed for students with prior Graham technique knowledge, the class aims to build and deepen their understanding of inevitable movement and artistry. Tomislav guides dancers in exploring how nuanced movement and breath can enrich character and storytelling within the technique, fostering experimentation and ensuring an enjoyable learning environment.
