Originally from Pennsylvania, Ted Keener (he/him) received his classical ballet training from the North Carolina School of the Arts, The Rock School of Pennsylvania Ballet, and Indiana University Jacobs School of Music. He danced professionally with Richmond Ballet, The Sacramento Ballet, Smuin Contemporary Ballet, National Choreographers Initiative, and toured across the United States and Canada with Fiddler on the Roof, and The Phantom of the Opera in the role of Hannibal Solo Dancer.

Ted teaches ballet on faculty at the Institute for American Musical Theatre in NYC, is a proud member of Actors Equity Association, and holds certifications in both Personal Training (NASM) and Pilates Mat (Equinox). In class, he loves to draw upon his diverse professional experience and thorough knowledge of body mechanics to create a positive, safe environment for dancers of all ages and abilities to come and share their joy!

As a classically trained dancer who has worked in both the concert and theater realms, Ted loves sharing the joy of movement with dancers of all ages and abilities! His classes draw inspiration from studies with such notable teachers as the late Violette Verdy, Duncan Noble, and Melissa Hayden, and incorporate a focus on core engagement with proper joint alignment to help every dancer achieve their maximum potential
