Yes, his name is Q and it has nothing to do with Star Trek or James Bond characters. The TBS Network’s The Last OG premiere and an episode of Tru TV’s Billy On The Street got the Q Choreo treatment recently. He also worked as lead and co-choreographer on several episodes of both seasons of the Lifetime network series Abby’s Ultimate Dance Competition and performed in a project helmed by show judge Richy Jackson (Nicki Minaj, Katy Perry). His choreography has also been featured on The Anderson Cooper Show, in the online marketing campaign for Step Up 3D and additional choreographer/dancer credits include: various projects for MTV, VH1, Oprah Winfrey’s OWN Network, The NatGeo Channel, and Billboard magazine.

Additionally, he worked with independent artist Jonté on his debut Japanese DVD release Hello Jonté Moaning and has produced show mixes for his live TV performances in Russia for cosmetics giant Kiehl’s and Fashion Week in New York and Seoul (Korea). In his spare time, Q also choreographs video content for behind the scenes creative types such as celebrity make-up artist Marissa Jade Sky (Lady Gaga, Britney Spears).

A graduate of Baltimore School for The Arts, Q creates choreography, both onstage and in class, that connects the dots between the music, the movement and the message. His emphasis on performance is the result of his theater background and training in Hip-Hop, Jazz, and Ballet. The last few years have taken him on teaching tours in Japan and South Africa. Stateside he can be found as part of the faculty at Broadway Dance Center, and various other prestigous NYC studios. Q has also taught guest classes at City Center and the Museum of
The City of New York.

He is often asked, “Q, how would you describe your class?” and while his choreography is rooted in street jazz and hip-hop, it is stylistically determined by the music he chooses. Frequently and without warning, your class experience could easily immerse you in the worlds of Hip-Hop, Pop, Reggaeton, Rock and K- Pop with Q’s grab bag inspiration ranging from Cardi B, Bad Bunny or Ariana Grande to BLACKPINK or Selena --- and don’t be surprised if there are props involved as well! You may not always know what you’re getting with Q’s choreography, but it’s that variety that appeals to dancers who come to class expecting the unexpected.

Class Descriptions

As with all of his classes, Q starts with a stretch and tone warm-up designed to prepare you for a combination that often fuses character and story development with movement that aims to complement the vibe of the varied music chosen for choreography. At least 1-2 years of both Hip-Hop and Jazz is recommended for this class.

The class starts with a warm-up that includes isolations and groove exercises that often figure into the video-style choreography. Routines are often worked on for at least two consecutive classes allowing students to clean, perfect and fine tune the movement. Basic experience is helpful but not necessary; however, the desire to learn is crucial!

Q's ABW is designed for those who want to gain confidence dancing in social settings. A warm-up that includes isolations, groove exercises and a thorough breakdown of the material are a few examples of what will be covered. You’ll also get a feel for the "BDC class experience" by incorporating what you've learned from the warm-up into an energetic and challenging routine.
