Ljuba Castot is a New York based choreographer who is strongly informed by the city’s underground culture and brings a unique perspective to choreography and performance. She came to New York City to study with modern dance pioneer Merce Cunningham and simultaneously immersed herself into the city’s underground street dance community. With this diverse foundation, she uses her range to create truly different and aesthetically beautiful moments in the world of dance and movement. One of those moments, the video Hideaway by Kiesza, earned Ljuba a JUNO award for Video of The Year and an MTV VMA nomination for Best Choreography.

Ljuba directed and choreographed Kiesza’s headlining US/EU/AUSTRALIA tour as well as some very memorable TV appearances on the MTV EMAs, Much Music Awards, David Letterman, Ellen, and Jimmy Kimmel. She has directed and choreographed a slew of music videos for Kiesza, Jack Ü, Bakermat and Joey Bada$$ and she recently received much critical acclaim for her work with Sufjan Stevens in the creation of his 2016 festival tour. Ljuba has also created work with brands such as Fendi, Motorola, Bad Bunch NYC and Smirnoff. She is an active performer and has worked with such amazing people as Ephrat Asherie, Tricia Brouk, Amy Secada Lopez, and Rhapsody James.

Signature to Ljuba’s brand of creating “something out of nothing," she has a distinct ability to translate new and unique forms of movement and raw stylistic expression into a fresh format that instantly connects with the audience. Ljuba approaches each project with a high level of intuitive skill and her wide range of experiences makes her creative process multifaceted and dynamic.
