Kimberly Schafer is an Award-Winning Director, Choreographer and Educator. She received her Bachelor of Performing Arts Magna Cum Laude in Dance Performance from Oklahoma City University, and her Masters in Theatre Education Summa Cum Laude from Catholic University of America. Kimberly Schafer is an Award-Winning Director, Choreographer and Educator. She received her Bachelor of Performing Arts Magna Cum Laude in Dance Performance from Oklahoma City University, and her Masters in Theatre Education Summa Cum Laude from Catholic University of America. Recently, she was selected to be a member of the International Dance Council CID. She is a proud member of the Stage Directors and Choreographers Union, and the Actor’s Equity Union. Currently, she is an Adjunct Dance Professor for the Musical Theatre programs at Marymount Manhattan College and Wagner College in New York City.
In 2019, she was honored to work and collaborate with the brilliant Tony Award Winner Andre de Shields as the Choreographer for Sophisticated Ladies at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center. In 2015, she was the Dance Assistant to ten-time Tony Award Winning Tommy Tune and Randy Skinner on the production of Lady be Good at City Center Encores. She was also the tap assistant for Tommy Tune for the US tour Chita and Tune: Just in Time. She was the Associate Choreographer/Dance Captain for Broadway Backwards at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre and has been an associate choreographer for Broadway Bares 24-26 benefitting Broadway Cares Equity Fights Aids. She was the creative director for MASQ, a benefit show for The LGBTQIA Center in NYC.
Featured TV Credits include The Real Housewives of NY where she worked as a Director/Choreographer for Sonja Morgan for her burlesque speakeasy performance. She also spends time as a Director/Choreographer for Celebrity Cruise Lines based in Miami. Some of her regional choreography credits include On the Town, Crazy for You, Singin' in the Rain, Footloose, 9 to 5, and many more. She has taught at Broadway Dance Center, Radio City Music Hall, CAP 21 Musical Theatre Conservatory (NYU/Molloy University), Catholic University of America, RWS, and various studios around the United States. Nominated/Won 14 times for Best Direction/Choreography for Broadway World Awards and Tommy Tune Awards. Featured performing credits include the National Tour of 42nd Street and a commercial for Skineez Skinwear featured on a Times Square Billboard.

Class Descriptions
Kimberly’s class is a mix of styles ranging from Musical Theatre tap to rhythm tap. Her class appeals to all ages by using a variety of musical genres. Her energetic personality will guide you through a structured warm-up, across the floor routines, turns, and a fun yet challenging combination. Fine- tuned tap technique and vocabulary will be emphasized throughout the class as well as the joy of dancing. All classes will teach percussive footwork incorporating upper body movements all while challenging your ability to retain choreography. The tap technique will be thoroughly explained so all levels are encouraged. The combination will work on specific styles so that the students are exposed to various time periods. Tappers will gain feet articulation as well as a love for dance!
