John Leggio is back in NYC after recently installing four new shows on Celebrity Cruise Lines’ newest luxury ship, BEYOND. John made his Broadway debut in the original production of CATS, playing the role of Tumblebrutus. He went on to perform in the Broadway production of My Fair Lady, and the Broadway Tours of Showboat, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, CATS, and My Fair Lady. His professional career started at the age of sixteen, singing and dancing at the world premiere of the movie, Six Weeks, starring Mary Tyler Moore and Dudley Moore. Barbra Streisand was a guest that evening, where John sang the song, "Life is a Celebration." John worked with Broadway composer, John Kander, in the musical, The Happy Time, at the Lyric Opera of Kansas City, and before the age of twenty, John performed in musicals at the Kansas City Starlight Theatre, toured Europe with Opryland USA, danced in numerous television specials, performed at Disney World, and as lead singer/dancer on Royal Caribbean Cruise Line.

John has spent the last two decades as a director and choreographer, working for Disney World, Cirque Dreams, the Straz Center (Tampa), artistic director for the Show Palace Dinner Theatre (Hudson, FL), and as artistic director of John Leggio's Center for the Performing Arts, inspiring a generation of performers, many now making a name for themselves on Broadway, in dance companies, and more. As an educator in NYC, John has worked for some of the most respected companies and colleges, including, Broadway Dance Center, Joffrey Ballet School, Marymount Manhattan College, and Montclair State University. John recently choreographed, “Urinetown the Musical,” for Montclair State University, as well as original pieces for the Steps Beyond Foundation, the Joffrey Ballet School Jazz Winter Concert, and the Joffrey Summer Intensive at the Apollo Theatre. John will be featured in the upcoming Jazz World Congress in Brazil, Spring 2023.

Class Descriptions

John’s Jazz classes build strength, stamina, and style. Classes begin with a 35 minute warm up, with a strong technical foundation in jazz, ballet, and modern.
Center Floor Work includes his unique style of jazz turning technique, that build clean-quick jazz pirouettes.
Combos focus on weight transfer, strengthening the mind-body connection, as well as flexibility and Isolation exercises, across the floor progressions, jumps and turns.

Combos range from Classical Jazz to Swing, Lyrical to Broadway, Street Jazz to Fosse.
