Michigan native Heather Liposky moved to New York City in 2013 to pursue her career as a versatile performer. Her love for dance began at five years old where after years of competitive dance and attending Oakland University, it grew to become her passion. On scholarship, curtesy of The PULSE, Heather is a graduate from the Professional Semester here at Broadway Dance Center. Aside from Contemporary, Heather constantly expands her training by studying a variety of other genres that include Musical Theater, Hip-Hop, Tap, Jazz, and Floorwork. Training as an adaptable dancer holds strong importance to Heather. She hopes to instill this within her students, watching them explore and grow further stylistically as well as technically.
As an ELSCO Dance Company Member, Heather trains extensively with Artistic Director Ellenore Scott. Learning heaps of knowledge (choreographically and artistically) about the Concert, Commercial, and Theatre Dance Industries, Heather most recently took part in assisting Ellenore as she choreographed an AVON Commercial. Heather has performed at many different shows and venues such as the International Emmy Awards, World of Dance, APAP, Young Choreographers Festival, and the Capezio ACE Awards (New York - Derek Mitchell / LA - Marinda Davis awarded 2nd runner up). Presented during New York Music Festival (NYMF), Heather is an original cast member of Freedom Riders, a new musical choreographed by Jon Rua. Other honorable credits include: Jay Sean, Kid Rock, 3oh!3, Brooklyn X-Factor, Good Morning America, Nickelback, Sondre Lerche, and Jason Derulo.
With a quirky and bright spirit, Heather is excited to enlighten a deeper connection and understanding to contemporary movement within her students by binding her dynamic training in technique, shapes and lines with rhythm, passion and imagination. She strives to create a fun, honest environment that encourages individuality, personality, and raw creative energy where hard work feels good – shows - and is celebrated. This is Heather’s first year as a faculty member of the Children and Teen Program at BDC! She is beyond excited to have a positive influence in her students’ year and is grateful to help mold well rounded, kind little humans in our dance community.
