Diana Laurenson (she/her) is a Choreographer, Dance Educator, Triple-Threat Performer, Co-Artistic Director & Stagehand with over four decades of Broadway experience in the Entertainment Industry. Her immense body of work includes 7+ Broadway shows , numerous National & International Tours, Business & Regional Theatre, TV & Film, and Master Classes around the world, from the USA to Japan, New Zealand, China, Australia, Argentina, Mexico, France, Great Britain and Canada.

Early in her career, she had the privilege of working closely with Bob Fosse and Gwen Verdon, as a Dance Captain, Assistant & Recréateur; then went on to inspire generations of students with her teaching, coaching and mentoring skills….most who now work in all areas of our industry around the world! (Bway, Tours, Regional, Rockettes, Cirque de Soleil, Contemporary Companies, TV & Film). Her students WERK, with grace and confidence, and she is soooo happy for, and proud of, each and every one of them! “Because I knew you,……..”

Diana’s performance credits include: BROADWAY:  Sweet Charity (Minskoff Theatre & Lincoln Center),  Big Deal, Gypsy, Dangerous Games,  The Little Prince. NATIONAL & INTERNATIONAL TOURS:  West Side Story, Anything Goes, Sweet Charity, Bob Fosse’s Dancin:’ (USA, Canada, Italy, France,London), Dangerous Games (La Jolla  Playhouse). Regional:  West Side Story, 42nd Street, A Chorus Line, Sweet Charity, Chicago, Kennedy Center Honors, Miss America Pageant, The Royal Variety Show, HBO, West End Theatre Awards, Milliken Breakfast Show, Jacob’s Pillow, several films, TV series, Business Theatre (Coca-Cola, Oldsmobile, Maytag),, and, of course, Law and Order.

 

As an IATSE Stagehand, Diane was Assistant Electrician with Les Misérables at the Imperial Theatre/Bway, also working backstage on Miss Saigon, Phantom of the Opera, The Life, and Titanic in Electrics and Sound. Her career biography has also been placed in the archives of the New York!

Ms. Laurenson has been on Faculty at BDC/NYC since 2000, is Co-Artistic Director with Bway Choreo Bob Richard of The American Musical Theatre Dance Company, and is a proud member of AEA, SAG/AFTRA, SDC, & IATSE (retired). Class Descriptions

This is an exciting class often referred to as “Musical Theatre Medicine”! Once you take it, you’ll immediately start to feel so much better! Our class is all-inclusive, judgement & clique-free. The 45 minute warm-up focuses on technique, strength, stretch and a variety of movement styles, all while incorporating “Triple-Threat Training” (Dance, Acting, Singing, Performance & Audition Skills). Pieces are chosen from Classic to Contemporary Musicals, or from current productions I’m working on, and often incorporate blocking, partnering, scene and song. And joy, let’s always incorporate the humor & joy! The atmosphere is fast-paced, positive, challenging, professional and fun, allowing the students to participate in a powerful Musical Theatre Experience. Looking forward to dancing with you!!
