Amber Paul is the founder of Yoga for Actors, a system that teaches performers of all types how to overcome audition and performance anxiety through the freeing practice of yoga. Amber’s style of teaching embraces the individual, acknowledges the moment, and encourages joyful expression.

Amber’s style of teaching embraces the individual, acknowledges the moment, and encourages joyful expression.
As owner of a thriving private yoga practice based in New York, Amber works with clients ranging from opera singers to corporate executives. She is a Yoga Alliance certified E-RYT 500 vinyasa yoga instructor and specializes in teaching meditation for the modern practitioner.
Amber is currently a professor of yoga at the John Jay College of Criminal Justice and a guest lecturer in the graduate program at Fordham University. She is also on faculty at Three Sisters Yoga, where she certifies new instructors at both the 200 and 300-hour level. In addition to being the resident yoga instructor at Broadway Dance Center, she has taught yoga and meditation at the Chopra Center, Sonic Yoga, Yoga Collective NYC, Club H Fitness, Reflections Yoga, and for many corporate clients including Brooks Brothers and the law firm of Skadden/Arp. Her specialty workshops include Yoga for Auditions, Meditation for the Modern Practitioner, Yoga for Runners, and the Business of Yoga: A Spiritual Exploration.
Amber believes that yoga is for everyone and has worked extensively to integrate its practices within the daily life of her community. One of her special gifts as an instructor is introducing yoga and meditation to first-time practitioners. She taught the inaugural Yoga for Absolute Beginners Workshop at Broadway Dance Center and also volunteered her services for the Dress for Success Annual Diversity Career Fair.
As a service to her community, Amber currently teaches a donation-based guided meditation class every Friday at Reflections Yoga in Midtown Manhattan.

Rejuvenate your spirit while toning your body and calming your mind! Vinyasa yoga teaches the student to link breath with movement, supporting strength and flexibility gains in all the major muscle groups. In this class, dancers can benefit from increased concentration while toning and lengthening muscles and learning to work with their own breath rhythms. This class creates a supportive and encouraging environment for beginners while also offering multi-level postures for more advanced practitioners. Students will also be offered specific yoga techniques to overcome audition and performance anxiety. Consistent vinyasa yoga practice promotes deep relaxation and a positive outlook, and all students are welcome.
This class is 1 hour of gentle yoga (as described above) followed by 30 minutes of guided meditation. During the meditation portion of class, students will learn to calm the mind, quiet the senses, and increase concentration. No experience necessary, and students of all spiritual backgrounds are welcome. Class exercises will include instruction in meditation for the modern practitioner, calming pranayama (breathing exercises), and methods for developing concentration.
Class will consist of warm-up exercises, fun improv, acting games, and the basics of acting technique. Students will learn simple script analysis and how to prepare for both on-camera and stage auditions. Each class will include techniques for overcoming performance and audition anxiety.
Learn to act in a fun, supportive, and judgement-free environment. In Improv Acting, students learn & strengthen acting skills through a series of improvisation games. Class begins with a group warm-up followed by a variety of exercises geared towards the level of the students. Exercises increase in complexity throughout the class and include large and small group improv games. Students will gain & deepen their knowledge of acting & improv skills, including: communication, supportive group dynamics, body language, accessing imagination & instincts, being present in the moment, character development, building relationships, the improv approach to scripted text, confidence & concentration, audition skills, overcoming stage fright, and storytelling. No prior improv experience is required, and performers of all levels & ages are welcome. This class is based on the teaching of Gloria Maddox.
