Abdul Belle, aka Mr. Kid, a Trinidad native, was raised in Brooklyn, NY where at the age of 14, he found dance through school talent shows and functions. He later became a NYC street performer and began booking professional jobs such as a photoshoot for Stussy Clothing, and commercials for Jolly Rancher, and Nickelodeon. He also appeared on BET, MTV, VH1, NBC, and other cable networks. Realizing he had a love of teaching, Mr. Kid began to teach his own Breaking class in Long Island, starting with two classes a week at three different studios. In about a year, Mr. Kid quickly grew his teachings to eight classes at eight different studios. In three years his Breaking class had grown to be one the most popular in Brooklyn. Mr. Kid’s Hip-Hop choreography began gaining recognition which led him to teach at various conventions, workshops, and guest classes at studios throughout NYC and the tristate area. He then started his own DJ company, Not Just Dancers Entertainment, where he employed many professional dancers and provided internships for aspiring young dancers. Still yearning for more, Mr. Kid started his own dance workshop company called Innovations in Dance Development. With this company, he strived to bring together highly esteemed choreographers in all styles of dance and young dancers who otherwise might not have had access to these teachers and styles.
In 2015 Mr. Kid formed “Mr. Kid’s Protégé Program” which focused on giving young dancers opportunities beyond the studio to prepare them for a career in performing and teaching dance. Well-known for his community outreach, Mr. Kid has given motivational speeches at public schools and Hunter College, and has performed for the Department of Homeless Services, The Seton Foundation for Down Syndrome and Special Needs, and The Crossroads Juvenile Center. In 2015, he was elected President of Love No Hate, an anti-bullying organization with thousands of members and followers across the globe. His most recent project is his clothing line, 5678Steps. Mr. Kid’s work continues to speak volumes and to inspire dancers and non-dancers of all ages, gaining tremendous support on an international level.
