Jamie Harvener is an American choreographer and dance educator from Lexington, KY. His versatile training includes ballet contemporary, jazz, tap, musical theater, and more. He is most recently known for his work in the feature film She Dances, serving as the movie's choreographer and dance consultant. Jamie Harvener is an American choreographer and dance educator from Lexington, KY. His versatile training includes ballet contemporary, jazz, tap, musical theater, and more. He is most recently known for his work in the feature film She Dances, serving as the movie's choreographer and dance consultant. This project has allowed him to teach numerous spotlight classes throughout the country including at Broadway Dance Center and Playground LA. Jamie's choreography has received national recognition from various competitive dance circuits including Dance Masters of America, Platinum National Dance Competition, and Kids Artistic Revue. His Contemporary work has also been rewarded at Youth America Grand Prix. Over the past 7 years Jamie has trained 8 national title holders through the Dance Masters of America organization. His students have also recently been awarded a variety of teacher assistant opportunities and scholarships through Revel, NYCDA, and Press Play, The Rock, and Royal Ballet. Jamie is excited to be back at BDC, and aims to create an environment where dancers feel welcomed, seen, and valued!

Contemporary will focus on dynamics, textures and levels aiming to find the balance between artistry and athleticism. Class will explore both intentional and expansive movements, acknowledge the power of subtleties, and highlight the fluidity and strength found within the genre.
