Hendricks' class incorporates stamina, theatricality, clarity in focus and gestural intention, detailed pedestrian movements and musicality. Yet within that framework, she tries to challenge the dancer to make unexpected choices that are either clear in their intention or are questioned by their viewers. As the dancer is asked to move in and out of the floor with such quickness, fall and recover, show versatility, be grounded yet quirky and with a voice all at the same time, she asks the dancer to be self aware throughout the entire process. Through a fast paced warm up and highly physical and athletic class, my philosophy is dedicated to offering the dancer an experience, rather than just movement. Aside from expanding their technical proficiency, she works on broadening their boundaries of dance and traditional choreography, enhancing their language of dance and supporting any new possibilities along the way.
