Broadway Dance Center has been providing the finest in dance instruction since 1984, and our faculty is world-renowned. Our International Student Visa Program has been carefully designed to facilitate your training in an intensive course of study. While you focus on your development, we work with you to help you achieve your goals.
ISVP features the largest variety and choice of classes of any studio in NYC, with an unparalleled teaching staff of industry professionals. We accept applications from dancers at all levels. Our program is conducted in a non-competitive atmosphere, and the sense of community among our students is powerful and warm. We know that you're far from home, but we want BDC to be your second home!
Dancers with professional training will find many options to support their progress. We accept applications from students and teachers at varying levels. We look for applicants with a strong desire to train intensively and to work hard to achieve their goals. While no previous formal training is specifically required, we have found that absolute beginners have difficulty building a curriculum at our studios, and would suggest gaining a modicum of experience before applying. We honor and cultivate all styles of dance, so if your training is primarily in a specific style, do not be discouraged from applying.
The M-1 is a type of student visa used for vocational training schools and non-English language schools. Schools teaching specialized skills or trade arts are included under this visa. Universities and English-language schools are generally covered under F-1 Visas.
Once visa status is granted, students may arrive in the U.S. up to 30 days prior to the start of their program and remain in the US for 30 days following the end date of their program.
No, while studying under the M-1 Visa, students are not permitted to work for compensation in the United States.
We will consider applications from students currently in the U.S. on F-1 Visas. Students wishing to transfer to Broadway Dance Center’s ISVP must arrange a meeting with program administrators. Email us at ISVP@bwydance.com to arrange the meeting.
We must receive your application at least 45 days before your anticipated start date. Once we receive your complete application, it takes about one week for acceptance to be determined. We will send acceptance notification by email. Upon acceptance into the program, you must pay half the tuition. The remainder of your tuition must be paid before you begin classes. Broadway Dance Center will not send the I-20 Certificate of Eligibility until the first half of tuition has been received. Once you receive your I-20 you will apply to the American Embassy or Consulate in your country to receive the visa.
Yes, you can extend. There is a $100 administrative fee to extend your program. Program administrators can provide you with further details on extensions.
For legal liability reasons, BDC does not provide housing for international students, but we can assist your search. We work closely with Student Housing Associates (studenthousingassociates.com). Please email ISVP@bwydance.com, and we will connect you with our liaison at Student Housing Associates.
Due to U.S. work visa restrictions, currently we DO NOT have a scholarship program available in conjunction with the International Student Visa Program.
