
BDC Gives
Broadway Dance Center strongly believes in supporting organizations which are actively making a positive contribution in the community.
This includes holding BDC Gives classes from which proceeds are donated to a select charity, hosting holiday charity drives, and participating in community fundraising events.
Past Events

Emily Bufferd leads an all levels contemporary lyrical BDC Gives class. Full proceeds will be donated to the Leave a Legacy Foundation of South Florida.

Mark Kanemura leads an Int Adv JAZZ FUNK BDC Gives class. 100% of the proceeds will be donated to The Trevor Project.

Alison Solomon leads this Int THEATER BDC Gives class. All proceeds from this class will be donated to First Company Pink.

Ryan Daniel Beck leads this All Levels BodyART BDC Gives class. All proceeds will be donated to the FDNY.

BDC Gives Class led by Cat Cogliandro, Hannah Frederick, Emily Bufferd, and KC Castellano. All proceeds go to the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline.

#AIDSyria benefitting Doctors Without Borders
Broadway Dance Center hosted a day of BDC Gives classes to raise funds for the Doctors Without Borders efforts in Syria. For more information on Doctors Without Borders, please visit their website.
ALMA NYC and BDC Team Up to Support Giving Africa
ALMA NYC and Broadway Dance Center recently teamed up to raise funds for Giving Africa, a charity that builds schools in Africa to help eradicate poverty. Zanza Steinberg is the Artistic Director of ALMA NYC, and works closely with Giving Africa in their efforts to raise educational awareness. BDC Gives Benefit Classes for Marinda Davis
Broadway Dance Center hosted two benefit classes in support of choreographer and BDC guest faculty, Marinda Davis, who is battling various health complications including Stage 4 Lupus. Winner of the 2015 Capezio ACE Award for Choreographic Excellence, Marinda has gone through many severe health challenges for most of her life. Only recently has she received a concrete diagnosis of stage 4 Lupus as well as other auto-immune diseases. All proceeds from these classes went towards assisting with Marinda's high medical bills.
R.Evolución Latina's Choreographers Festival
BDC hosted a FREE panel with R.Evolución Latina that included such Broadway notables as Luis Salgado, Christopher Gattelli, Jon Rua, Joey Dowling, Matt Steffens, and Rickey Tripp! This event was a forum to discuss community and the creative process, as well as raise awareness for the organization. World AIDS Week
In support of World AIDS Week, dance teachers across New York City will donate a portion of classes to Dancers Responding to AIDS. Teachers and dance institutions will donate $1 per student attending class in support of DRA.
Giving Tuesday with Ellenore Scott
Giving Tuesday is a global day dedicated to giving back to non-profits after Black Friday and Cyber Monday. The campaign included Ellenore Scott's class and generated donations for Drea's Dream dance and movement therapy programming. All proceeds from class went directly to a Drea's Dream program in the NYC area.
Tap Dance for Tutoring with April Cook!
Proceeds from the tap class were donated to 826NYC, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting students ages 6-18 with their creative and expository writing skills and to helping teachers inspire their students to write. All of the free programs are challenging and enjoyable, and ultimately strengthen each student's power to express ideas effectively, creatively, and in his or her own voice.
Making Strides with KC Castellano!
Portions of KC's class proceeds were donated to the Team BDC's Making Strides Against Breast Cancer team for the 2014 fundraising campaign. .
Flamenco for a Cause!
A portion of proceeds from Arielle Rosales' class were donated towards the Dance-A-Thon on October 18 and dedicated to the memory of Elizabeth Maria Walsh, a talented dancer and avid member of the NYC dance community who sadly passed recently after a strong battle with cancer.
ALS Donation Class with Tracie Stanfield
In lieu of dumping a bucket of water on her head, Tracie Stanfield asked students to dance for a cause! All proceeds from this BDC Gives class were donated to ALS Association. www.alsa.org
Leap for Life with Jamie Salmon
After such a successful event last year earning over $1000, BDC Ballet Faculty member, Jamie Salmon is once again celebrating her birthday month in a BIG way. As a two-time ovarian cancer survivor and currently in treatment for NH Lymphoma, this benefit class holds a special place in Jamie's heart.
AIDS WALK New York
This BDC Gives class is for the AIDS Walk in NYC, benefitting CMHC and more than 40 AIDS service organization throughout the tri state area. All proceeds from this class will be donated to this walk and extra donations can be made at the Front Desk on May 6 as well. Regular class rates apply.
Frank Hatchett Scholarship Class
All proceeds from this BDC Gives class will be donated to the Frank Hatchett Scholarship, an annual scholarship for dancers in the Children & Teens Program. Donations can also be made at the Front Desk on April 25. Regular class rates apply.
City Harvest Food Drive
Broadway Dance Center is proud to support the largest food drive in New York City!
City Harvest helps feed the more than one million New Yorkers that face hunger each year, and together we can make a big difference!
NYC Fit Week Class
NYC Fit Week studio partners will host donation-based classes to benefit She's the First, an organization sponsoring girls' education around the world. 100% of the proceeds from NYC Fit Week classes will benefit She's the First, so come sweat for a great cause!

Philippines Relief Fund
Stop by the front desk and contribute to the BDC relief fund for the Philippines. All donations will be matched by Broadway Dance Center and 100% of the contributions will go to the Red Cross in efforts to aid in the recovery of the typhoon devastation in central Philippines.

Bonnie and Jim Supporting Australia's Special Olympics
Theater choreographer Jim Cooney and Director of Educational Programming Bonnie Erickson appeared recently on Australia's most popular morning show Sunrise in an extraordinary segment. Jim choreographed a beautiful dance to Imagine for the Special Olympics dancers -- the piece is now being considered as the opener for the Asian games and the dancers are planning a trip to BDC!
