Ian Klein is a New York City based dancer, choreographer, movement director and educator. His training includes everything from Classical Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Hip-Hop, Break dancing, Latin & American styles of Ballroom and various Modern techniques. He is honored to be on faculty at the world renowned Broadway Dance Center in New York City and teach classes throughout the country and internationally in multiple styles of dance demonstrating his passion for the art of movement.
Ian believes that the numerous styles of dance should be used like paints on a palette. He dips into each of them while creating to ensure that the outcome is covered in hints of classical technique to street edginess with brush strokes of whatever style the choreography calls for.
Recently, Ian has served as the Assistant Choreographer to Jared Grimes on, “Planet Funk, A James Brown Musical Experience” fall 2024 workshop, and on, “Anything Goes” at The Muny. He was also the Choreographer and Movement Director for a portion of the ZARA Kids FW24 print and digital ad campaign. He teaches as a faculty member for Joffrey Ballet Schools Spectrum Summer Intensive and served as the Director, Supervising Choreographer and Movement Director for show packages on both Azamara and MSC Cruises through RWS Global. His performance credits include major motion pictures, hit television series, both print and digital ad campaigns, performances with Grammy Award winning recording artists, as well as live theatrical performances.
Ian graduated from Marymount Manhattan College where he majored in dance and received his B.F.A.

Ian's teaching method asks students of all dance backgrounds to use their strengths to absorb new techniques and methods while blending style and performance. He aim's to help students find their individual styles in movement while building on their technical foundation. Each class begins with a blended ballet/jazz-based warmup that encourages students to prepare themselves physically and mentally while working through a series of exercises. Furthermore, class combinations will push students to incorporate their personalities and mannerisms to enhance each classes movement style and storyline. As a dancer and teacher, I’ve found that blending numerous dance styles, like paints on a palette, enables me to present a vast range of emotion and physicality. As a result, he preaches versatility and asks his students to take risks while exploring movements and styles that may be new to them in the hope they discover that technical training combined with other dance methodologies makes them better dancers and more marketable.
