Nikki Theroux, originally from Massachusetts, received her BFA in Dance Performance and Choreography from Marymount Manhattan College, graduating magna cum laude. She has since performed for notable choreographers such as Mike Esperanza, Max Stone, Emily Greenwell, Rachel Hettinger, and Amanda Reichert. Additionally, Nikki has served as an apprentice withMersiha Mesihovic/CircuitDebris and as a project-based dancer with Suku Dance Lab. Nikki’s experience extends past simply stage, as she can be seen in several video projects and short dance films, such as with Hollye Bynum's Of Bones Dance and a music video under the direction of Derrick Belcham.
Nikki’s latest dance endeavors landed her in Israel, where she spent 5 months studying intensely with Kibbutz Contemporary Dance Company in Kibbutz Ga’Aton. Here she performed works by Ilya Nikurov, Rami Be’er, and Mats Ek’s Cullberg Ballet Repertoire, as well as presented her own work at the Zichri Theater. Nikki has also spent two summers training with Batsheva Dance Company in Tel Aviv, completing the Gaga Intensive Summer Courses.
Nikki’s journey in movement construction and choreography has progressed alongside her performance career. Her work has been presented in admirable theatres both in the United States and elsewhere, such as at Dixon Place, Triskelion Arts, The Actor’s Fund Theater, and the Salvatore Capezio Theater. She has received several awards and accolades for her work, and she continues to funnel her creativity and dance knowledge into a choreographic journey that is unique and ever-growing. Most recently, she received a residency with Chen Dance Center to create a new solo work for the newsteps Series.
Both a Pilates instructor and a dance educator, Nikki regularly teaches classes and workshops at studios throughout the tri-state area and has also traveled to teach in the Netherlands. Nikki’s passion and deep understanding of movement and the human body’s mechanics sets a strong foundation in her teaching style.
