Teacher Bio
José Lapaz-Rodriguez is a Dominican-born movement artist and performer currently residing in Harlem, New York. He works under the direction of Kyle Marshall Choreography, instructing Vogue at the Ailey Extension, Rutgers University also holding space as nightlife artist at Lebain, The Stranger and The Box. He holds a BFA in Dance from Mason Gross School of the Arts. José is an active member of the ballroom scene and a key figure in the Haus of Telfar.
Class Descriptions
Flexibility, precision, and sharp lines are key to New Way vogue. Arm control shows off a dancers’ ability to create shapes, illusions, and face-framing lines, all to the beat of the music. Students in this class also practice other key vogue elements with an emphasis on expression and confidence.
