As a young choreographer, teacher, and dancer, Esosa Oviasu was largely self-taught in Popping and Breaking until he moved back to NYC to attend Columbia University. It was there that he began to train alongside instructors like Ephrat Asherie and Boogaloo Kin.

As a young choreographer, teacher, and dancer, Esosa Oviasu was largely self-taught in Popping and Breaking until he moved back to NYC to attend Columbia University. It was there that he began to train alongside instructors like Ephrat Asherie and Boogaloo Kin.

Esosa was first introduced to Commercial choreography through teachers such as Carlos Neto, Candace Brown, and Derek Mitchell. He has since steeped himself in Hip-Hop and House culture under legendary pioneers like Ejoe Wilson, Henry Link, and Cebo Carr. He was also the Creative Director of The Neighbors and EPIC Motion Dance Company, with whom he broadened his dance vocabulary as well as his range of styles.

He is currently the Associate Choreographer for the Broadway show, &Juliet. He is also a faculty member of Peridance Center, Movers Bodega, and featured dancer for the critically acclaimed Off-Broadway show, Beyond Babel. He hopes to continue to push himself and his students to new heights, in a sustained journey for knowledge and growth.

Class Descriptions

This class centers the concept of musicality and Esosa's own unique approach to the subject. Students of this class should come with a strong foundation of hip-hop movement, and a general familiarity with street styles such as House and Popping. This class is a welcoming space that does not expect flawless execution, but instead prizes avid exploration.
