Enzo Celli was born and raised in Italy. He began his professional activity at age 19. At the age of 25 he founded Botega Dance Company. In 1998, Enzo Celli's company received the ministerial grant from the Ministry for Goods and Cultural Activities. Enzo Celli becomes thus the youngest choreographer subsidized in Italy. It was Ottolenghi’s interest in Celli’s work that encouraged him to develop his natural instinct towards choreography.

Enzo Celli works have been set on prestigious theatres including: Alvin Ailey Citigroup Theater (New York), La Cigale (Paris), Erfurt Opera House (Germany), Na Strastnom Theater (Moscow), Guaria Theater (Curitiba, Brazil), Belgrade National Theater (SerbIa), Teatro Municipal Joaquim Benite (Lisbon), Espace Robert Hossein (Lourdes), Auditorium Conciliazione (Rome), Salvatore Capezio Theatre (New York), Russia Drama Theater (Ufa, Russia), Sao Pedro Theater (Porto Allegre, Brazil).

Enzo Celli’s international engagements include: Peridance Contemporary Dance Company (NYC), Sam Houston State University (Huntsville - Texas), Sarah Lawrence College (NYC), Bashkortostan State Academy (Russia), EBA-UFMG University (Belo Horizonte, Brasil). Russian Drama Theatre (Ufa, Russia), Na Strastnom Theatre (Moscow), National Choreographic Centre of Montpellier- Les Orsoline (France), Battery Dance Company (New York), Zakharif In Motion Dance Festival, (Giordania), International Dance Festival (Bangkok), Arts On Site (New York), Compagnia Zappalà Danza (Italia), Modulo Project (Italia), DanceStar (Croazia).

In 2015 began the VIVO Ballet, founded by Artistic Director, Enzo Celli. The founding team established two entities: VIVO Ballet, a New York based dance company, and the VIVO Ballet Professional Training Center based in Rome.

Since its conception in 2015, VIVO Ballet has performed in international festivals in the USA, France, Portugal, Switzerland, and Italy. With roots in Rome, the company sprouted within the Professional Training Center and then located to a more permanent home in New York City. In 2018 Enzo Celli moved permanently to New York to follow the company. VIVO Ballet presents itself as New York based contemporary dance company with a complete cast of 14 dancers.

Class Descriptions

Enzo Celli's class is a class contemporary dance technique. Class leads the dancer to a thorough study on the center and its fundamental relationship with the movement, creating a dynamic characterized by strong physicality and the relationship with the ground. 

Developing the concept of Bounce, in terms of rhythm and dynamics, the circularity becomes dominant element, along with the study of a new perception of themselves. Enzo Celli explores the dynamics strongly working on the ground, investigating both the technical steps fundamentals Floor Work as subsequent contamination arising from the personal development of the technique. The Class investigates the creative moment of the dancer. It will bring the dancer to express themselves, without changing the form to the movement, enriching the dance given by the choreographer with his own personality and emotions.
