Teacher Bio

While dancing on Broadway in the original production of Kander and Ebb's Kiss of the Spider Woman, David Marquez choreographed a dance entitled "Galileo" by The Indigo Girls for the BC/EFA Gypsy of the Year Competition and WON The Gypsy of the Year Award for Best In Show. Class Descriptions

Int THEATER DANCE

Class begins with a twenty-five minute warm up. We then do progressions across the floor consisting of turns, jumps and footwork. This is followed by a different style musical theater routine every week. Acting is involved. 

Class Guidelines
REQUIRED DRESS CODE: Please note, all students must wear form-fitting, black dance clothes—no logos, stripes, sneakers, or baggy sweats.

Women: Character heels, flat shoes, or cuban heels. Unitards, Jazz pants, or leotard and tights. Bring something to put your hair up.

Men: Form-fitting pants, Jazz pants, or unitard, (no side stripes, logos, or added distractions), t-shirt or tank and character shoes, jazz shoes, or cuban heels. Please wear dance belts.

Feel free to warm up in whatever you like but all warm-up clothes should be removed immediately afterwards. Black theater hats are provided by BDC but you are strongly encouraged to purchase your own: i.e. fedoras, bowlers, and pork-pies. Please be aware of personal hygiene. Turn off cell phones before entering. Please, no perfumes, colognes, or strong fragrances of any kind are allowed in the studio at any time.

¡Mambo Broadway!

Mix one part Salsa with one part theater dance, a dash of partnering and you get ¡Mambo, Broadway! Come, dress to impress, then go out dancing afterwards. Make it your weekend destination or a starting point for the beginning of your night! 

Class will begin with learning and reviewing salsa basics, learning a brief partner sequence, rotating and then putting it together with some side by side theater choreography. Come alone or come with a friend!
