Mike Camire has been flapping his feet since he was walking. Originally from the Boston area; he was the dance captain of The Boston Tap Company and #taplifetoo helping train the next upcoming dancers while performing for tap festivals, corporate events, and local charities events and was an original member of the traveling companies Subject:Matter and Drumatix performing at art festivals and schools around New England.
After dancing for other companies he wanted to create one for himself, starting N.E.A.T. (New England Alliance of Tap) where teens and young adults can comfortably enjoy tap dance while pursuing career goals. He also taught full time at dance studios, conventions, and tap festivals in the area. Mike recently made to big move to New York City and is now faculty at Broadway Dance Center.
Mike attended University of Massachusetts-Lowell double majoring in marketing and entrepreneurship, creating his own business; Tap Dance Archive Productions. T.A.P. digs deep through the web to find the best tap dance highlights of the past and present and share it with the community while giving some background of the dancer and the origin of the clip. Doing this he organizes playlists of each dancer to making it convenient to find certain clips or to binge watch a certain dancer. This channel has become one of the most followed social media accounts dedicated to preserve tap dance.
Mike jokes that his style is as if Gene Kelly took a few hip hop classes. Very athletic with lots of jumps, slides, and showmanship but brought to the new age of dance. Mike promises you will sweat but will have a great time doing it. He has rudiments that will make you use your mind as much as your feet and loves to break down steps to the physics and technique. He’ll also sneak in a quick tap history fact or two to shine light on dancers before him.
