Class will begin with a warm-up to help us find the floor and align our movement to create sound. As we warm up, we'll talk about history and technique. Class will then invite dancers to participate in technical exercises and improvisation, followed by a combination. The class environment seeks to be a safe space for dancers of any experience to find their way to their feet and explore their sound.
We will start with a warm-up to center our minds and bodies within the space. Then we will invite some structured improvisation into the space through various tasks based on music theory, textures, etc. Class will then shift to learning a combination, where the intention is always to play, stretch, and communicate through movement, using the combo as a grounding point.
